Ann Prescott Woodturning
Every chunk of wood tells a story: a knot, a blemish, or irregular grain is a part of the mystery and conditions of the life of a tree.
Imperfect. Transient. Evolutionary.
The union of this essential beauty with embellishment that honors what is already there offers endless exploration and satisfaction
A celebration of nature's color, texture and patterns. Welcome to my world.

My Tiny Workshop on Wheels!
In January 2015, I relocated my Woodturning Studio to a tiny house on wheels located in my garden in the historical district of Portland, ME. Building permits are difficult to secure so a portable house (licenced as an RV) solved the issues related to having a new structure on the premises. The tiny house movement has intrigued me for years and it is a perfect next step for my woodturning workspace. It's small, but I love it! I am forever grateful to The Longbranch School of Maine who took my design ideas and sketches and built and delivered the workshop.
Moving to a 20' x 9' space required a significant downsize of tools and equipment. I swapped out my Oneway 2436 for a 2418. I got a smaller air compressor and efficient dust vac system. I got rid of most other power tools that I used infrequently or wouldn't fit. All wall surfaces are pegboard allowing for flexible organization. The building is super insulated which allows it to be heated comfortably with the electric towel warmer you see on the left. Note: the workshop has never looked this tidy since the day I took these photos.
